VIDEO: Zanu PF to blame for vendors’ plight says Biti.

MDC Renewal Team secretary-general, Tendai Biti yesterday said the plight of vendors lie in changing the government as Zanu PF has failed to revive the economy.

Biti, who toured several vending sites in Harare said vendors must be allowed to continue selling their wares as an interim measure as that was their only way of survival under the current economic environment, where a majority of people were unemployed.

“The only solution is for us to regroup and focus on creating a vehicle which can deliver change to Zimbabwe, a new government must work to rebuild the economy because that is the only way the lives of Zimbabweans can be changed,” he said.

Biti was accompanied by several MDC Renewal leaders among them treasurer-general Benson Ntini, organising secretary Last Maengahama, women’s assembly chairperson Evelyn Masaiti, Willias Madzimure, Harare provincial chairperson Frank Chamunorwa and his Chitungwiza counterpart Tineyi Munetsi.

The party was expected to take the campaign to the streets of Chitungwiza next week.

The opposition party said it will at its inaugural convention in Harare next month launch its economic blueprint, Holistic Programme for Economic and Social Transformation, which shall outline the party’s plan to industrialise and create formal employment to end the suffering of the Zimbabwean people.

The convention will run under the theme An Agenda for Reclaiming Zimbabwe.
